The Hofgarten, situated directly to the Odeonsplatz and the residence, is a wonderful Baroque park. The park was created in 1617 on behalf of Maximilian I as Renaissance Italian style garden.
Tempel of Diana
At the east end is the Bavarian State Chancellery, the supreme authority of the Free State of Bavaria and seat of the Prime Minister. In the center of the park lays a pavilion, the temple of Diana by Heinrich Schön, created in 1615. Since 1775, the guests are treated with rich Bavarian delicacies under the shady colonnades in the beer garden of the Cafe Tambosi.

On warm summer nights, one can watch dance groups in the park, swinging their hips to tango, salsa and swing. Anyone can join!
